Run to the Hills
Local lore has it that this is the tallest hill between Canberra ACT and the NSW town of Yass 45 minutes away. At an average incline of 17 degrees, the hill provides a great foundation for a hill climb. The hill is located on a large property with good privacy, lots of room for camping, ang great access from the highway.
The hill is traditional Australian pasture, with a mixture of cleared areas and natural rock. The KOTH team will be clearing the site well in advance of the event, but most significantly we plan to add to the current slope with some extra incline to really challenge event riders. For those of you who havent ridden hill climb before, my experience is that the diffculty is a factor of hillslope x speed x terrain x soil condition. Running up a hill on a sporty at the start of the day is much easier than running up a hill after a pan has been trench digging. All in all, it will be challenging to begin with but will only get harder over the course of the day. Bring it on.
I just pooped my pants.
